Paradise Island - Gozo
If you are looking for a holiday which is more quiet and away from the noisy party districts, Gozo, which is a sister island of Malta, is totally for you. With only 34000 inhabitants, Gozo is lesser known than Maltese island, however, you will fall in love with its crystal water beaches, old history in every street you walk in, and typical Maltese architecture.
What to do in Gozo:
The Citadel: All routes in Gozo lead to Rabat's Citadel (also known as Victoria), a stunning and small walled city that has seen many significant historical events and has withstood the test of time in the most elegant fashion. Although the specific details of who or when this stronghold was first erected are unknown, we do know that it was established in the 15th century. According to research, settlements have existed on this hill since the Neolithic era. That's not surprising considering that it's one of the island's principal hilltops with breathtaking views in every direction.
Dwejra: It is simple to get to all the other towns and small villages from Victoria. Visit Għarb, the westernmost village on the Maltese islands, by traveling west toward the setting sun. You can visit Dwejra and the area once known for the Azure Window from this village. Regrettably, the Azure Window was a natural rock feature that sadly fell into the sea in March 2017.
You may easily book a boat ride on a tiny, traditional Maltese fishing boat called a luzzu to go out and explore the Gozitan coast from the water from the little natural harbour at Dwejra. Head down to the Inland Sea, a little cove with pebbles encircled by high cliffs and a sizable cave opening to the ocean.
Gozo Museum of Archeology: Prehistoric Gozo has some interesting offerings to the curious traveller. The Gozo Museum of Archeology is a perfect place to start. It offers a glimpse of all the important settlements that lived in Gozo from the early Neolithic up to the arrival of the Knights of St John. The museum itself resides within a beautiful 17th-century townhouse within the Citadel.
Crystal water beaches: Most beaches all around the world get busy pretty quickly. However, since this small island is not very famous yet, Gozo rarely has that kind of problem. Here are some not very famous, however, very clear and not so crowded beaches of Gozo:
Ramla l-Hamra
San Blas Bay
Dwejra Bay
Dahlet Qorrot
Hondoq ir-Rummien
