Feel Good Group Activities that Do Good in Malta
Volunteering has been shown to benefit those involved as well as the communities it helps. Some of the benefits include better physical and mental health and wellbeing; increased confidence; development of new skills and valuable work experience; a sense of connection to others in the community and so on.
When creating engaging CSR events for groups and incentives, it is vital to uphold the corporate philosophies and ethos of the actual client organisation, develop an activity that appeals to the participants, and one which benefits the local community.
One recent request received by the team at Rigo Malta DMC was from a international school wishing to give students a genuine ‘Malta Experience’ whilst supporting their IB curriculum. The three areas to be considered were:
Creativity
Physical Activity
Community Engagement
The team at Rigo Malta DMC came up with the idea to support local farmers with a tree planting exercise. Working alongside the local farmers, the students learned about:
Difficulties encountered by local farmers in Malta, and the importance of tree planting.
Estate Maintenance: clearing the land to maintain field health
Traditional Maltese Farming Methods
The additional benefits of the activities included:
Learning about Maltese people, culture, and traditions
Practising the English language
Engaging in activities that encourage collaboration, learning new skills and with physical exercise as a bonus
Studies consistently highlight the mental health benefits of volunteering, team work, and engaging in productive physical exercise. Research reveals reduced stress, increased happiness, and a greater sense of purpose - a positive impact on well-being and “win-win” result reinforces the significance of giving back. The students not only learnt about the country and its people, but also about agriculture, the importance of maintaining a healthy environment, practiced their English AND had fun whilst learning!
We can guarantee they all slept well that night, and left Malta with a renewed understanding of not only the local culture, but the benefits of teamwork and the importance of protecting and managing our natural environment.
Group activities that promote cultural understanding, encourage teamwork, and engage participants in physical activity are becoming more and more popular. For more ideas of what you and your group can achieve in Malta, be sure to talk to Rigo Malta DMC.
